■ Signed official agreement at CES 2026, to integrate diagnostic technology (SFL-R) into asset management platform
■ Real-time fault detection with over 99% accuracy using current measurement-based monitoring technology
■ Expected to be applied in West Coast Energy Highway and to accelerate global market expansion
LS Cable & System is set for the global commercialization of an asset management solution that integrates its own technology with the real-time cable diagnostic technology of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).
LS Cable & System announced on the 8th that it had signed a contract with KEPCO on the 6th (local time) at CES 2026 in Las Vegas regarding the commercialization of cable condition assessment technology (SFL-R) and joint entry into the global market.
Through this agreement, the two companies aim to strengthen their manufacturing and operational integration capabilities in the domestic power industry and cooperate in targeting overseas markets.
The core of the agreement involves applying KEPCO’s smart fault locator-real time (SFL-R) technology to the underground and submarine cable asset management platform currently operated by LS Cable & System. In the event of a cable fault, SFL-R technology can detect accident locations with over 99% accuracy by utilizing real-time current monitoring and noise cancellation techniques.
This technology is currently being used in major power grids, including the Jeju HVDC system, and its performance in long-distance HVDC cable monitoring using real-time current signal measurements has been validated.
With this technological integration, LS Cable & System plans to provide customized asset management services that encompass both general diagnosis and real-time precision diagnosis.
The two companies expect to cooperate through this model for the first time in the West Coast Energy Highway Project, which will ramp up this year. This will allow them to successfully secure references, which will accelerate entry into the global market.
“By combining LS Cable & System’s world-class technical prowess in manufacturing and construction with KEPCO’s operational know-how, we have established a system for intelligent power grid solutions that will lead the era of the global energy transition,” said Koo Bon-kyu, CEO of LS Cable & System. “We will secure practical references related to national infrastructure security, such as the West Coast Energy Highway, and prove the overwhelming competitiveness of ‘K-power’ in the global power grid market.”
